Tako Tidbits 6: One year after the Great Eastern-Japan Earthquake

As we mentioned in this week’s episode, March 11 marks the one year anniversary of the devastating Great Eastern-Japan Earthquake and tsunami that wrought disaster in Japan.

The Japanese government suspects that the areas near the nuclear plant may be unlivable forever.

Last year, officials in Japan considered evacuating Tokyo during the nuclear reactor meltdown.

Even a year later, Fukushima Residents still live with fear of radiation.

The Investigation on the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Accident has finally been published, although the English translation will not be available until this summer.

On March 23rd, there is going to be a Cherry Blossom Festival Special Symposium on Tourism in Japan… if you’re able to attend, please tell us all about it!

On 3/11/12, the anniversary of the earthquake, many people will be participating in this Japan in a Day project. If you’re in Japan, we think it sounds like a cool thing to be a part of.
